Halliwell is registered to provide the regulated activities of accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care and treatment of disease, disorder or injury for up to 64 people. Operating a portfolio of nine high quality care homes located throughout England, Elizabeth Finn Homes provide the highest standards of care for the discerning individual. This is being carried out with the minimum of disruption to residents possible. Some residents may be entitled to receive financial support from the local authority or primary care trust because of their individual financial or health circumstances. All rooms have en suite facilities, many with walk in showers and views over the park and beautiful landscaped gardens. We provide nursing and personal care on a permanent or short stay basis.
Why do we have a profile score?
Eileen is a Registered General Nurse with 30 years of experience mostly in the Acute Care Sector working in Respiratory, Cardiology and ITU. Prior to taking over as the General Manager at Halliwell she was working as a Ward Manager on an Acute Elderly Care Ward at Tunbridge Wells Hospital. This ward was noted to be exemplary with the Care Quality Commission highlighting her innovation in Dementia Care.
This post fired her passion for providing high standards of elderly care but always delivered with kindness and compassion. Eileen left the NHS in 2015 to take over as the Clinical Care Manager at Halliwell. Although only in post as the General Manager since July 2019 Eileen has created a strong team ethic with the CQC rating the Home as “Good” overall and “Outstanding” for being Responsive. The Home has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and feedback from Residents and Relatives is excellent. A sufficient number of skilled and trained staff were in place to meet people’s individual care needs. A robust recruitment process was in place to help ensure that staff were suitable to look after people who used the service. We believe in providing the very best in care and lifestyle for our Residents, and our employees share in the desire to make this a reality through their service delivery and engagement with our Residents. Getting older can make it more difficult to get around and do the things you used to do, or would like to do. A challenge we all face as we get older is to think about where we live, and how it will work for us when we’re older. If you intend to ‘stay put’ where you are, then thinking and planning ahead makes sense. If you have a home to sell, you may be able to use the proceeds to pay the deposit on a new property and take out a ‘lifetime mortgage’ to cover the rest of the cost. Yes, our care home provides a telephone in all our resident’s rooms. Each person is individually assessed regarding their care needs and the fee is set with the General Manager based on that assessment and the room chosen.

With the restrictions on visiting during the pandemic, social media platforms such as these offer real insight when you are choosing a provider. We are delighted that Halliwell has been awarded Beacon Status, the highest level achievable, under the prestigious Gold Standard Framework in recognition of its excellent end of life care. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service. – the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.

Comments we received included “My wife was in here over six years ago and now I am here. All the staff are personal friends, I am very happy here and very well looked after” and “I like the staff, they are very nice”. Overall people said the meals were good and the quality had improved. They said “food has improved; it is nicely presented on the plate” and “there is enough choice”. The premises were comfortable and designed with the needs of people using them in mind.
The registered manager and staff with a management responsibility were aware of and had used the correct procedures to lawfully deprive people of their liberty. Applications to the appropriate authorities to lawfully deprive people of their liberty had been sought and approved. Staff had a good understanding of how to apply the MCA and DoLS codes of practice. Our infection prevention and control inspections look at how well people using a service are kept safe from the spread of infections. With a few exceptions, accommodation in a care home cannot be bought or rented like retirement housing. Think of them more like full-board hotel accommodation with 24 hour care available.
Each of our Homes is situated in pleasant surroundings, equipped and furnished to the highest of standards and provide a high quality dining experience. Including what different types of care homes offer and why you might want to choose a home care service or look for support in your community. Daily help, including personal care, is available on site and one or more meals are available daily in a dining room or restaurant.
People, staff and relatives views were sought in a variety of ways to help identify where improvements could be made. Some care homes are registered to provide personal care only, for example help with washing, dressing and giving medication. Others also provide nursing, and will have a nurse on duty twenty-four hours a day. Care services offered to people in housing-with-care facilities are regulated, subject to periodic inspections and awarded grades.

Quality of life is as much a right for the terminally ill as for everyone else; at Elizabeth Finn Homes we believe that compassionate care for both the chronically and terminally ill can improve the quality of their lives. At Halliwell we provide for those who are terminally ill, with care that focuses on the control of pain and symptoms . Eileen’s passion for care of the elderly grew and she joined Halliwell in 2015 as the Clinical Care Manager/Deputy Manager. Having built a strong Clinical team and fostered a great team ethic amongst the staff Eileen became the General Manager in July 2019.
